Since Sir Stamford Raffles’ historic visit in 1822 at Raffles Square, the precinct is now known as Raffles Place, a transformed central business district filled with a rich heritage for the arts and culture, and a place for many visitors to shop, dine and unwind after working hours. To explore Raffles Place through the lens of art and history, Raffles Place Alliance brings visitors to embark on their exclusive audio tours – The Heritage and ART tours.

Focusing on the history of Raffles Place, the Heritage Tour is narrated by musician Tim De Cotta and audio-producer Carisa An-Yi Davies, following many monumental locations to recount how the precinct has changed since the 1800s.
The Heritage Tour covers five zones and starts near the Singapore River – an integral part of Raffles Place which brings life to the precinct. Then, visitors will head on to Chulia Street to learn about how different ethnic groups and architecture evolved in the surrounding areas. Next, visitors can move towards Battery Road to learn more about the beginnings of Raffles Place and explore the glitz and glamour of Collyer Quay nearby. At the last stop, the tour brings visitors to Market Street, where Raffles Place’s unique modern architecture grazes the landscape and features picturesque opportunities for locals and tourists alike.

After the Heritage Tour, visitors can further explore the thriving district as they partake in the ART Tour. On the ART Tour, visitors can dive into the wonderful works of art that surround the precinct as they immerse in bejewelled pieces from talented artists from Singapore and artists from around the world. With interesting sculptures and installations also found in Raffles Place, visitors can experience art through fresh eyes and learn insights behind the creation of these masterpieces.
The Art Tour will also be narrated by musician Tim De Cotta, along with additional voices featuring talented artists such as singer, musician and poet Weish, painter and ceramicist Marc Gabrielle, ceramicist Jeanette Adrienne Wee and graphic designer and artist Chris Chai.

With many historically-rich spots around Raffles Place, visitors may also roam about and explore during the audio tours. After all, Raffles Place is filled with a diversity of shops, buildings and history that invites visitors from all walks of life.
