Sports: Singapore National Netball team triumphs over Malaysia in first match of test series

The Singapore National Netball team emerged victorious in the first match of the three-match test series against Malaysia, securing a 65-41 win earlier today. The match, characterized by its physicality and  intense rivalry, embodied the spirit of a cross-border derby.

In the first quarter, Malaysia made a strong start, swiftly establishing a 3-0 lead. However, Singapore rallied to narrow the gap, but a series of errors allowed Malaysia to finish the quarter with a lead of 15-13.

The second quarter saw Singapore’s defence spring into action, allowing them to take the lead at 17-16 and eventually head into halftime with a five-goal advantage (30-25).

The final half of the match showcased a more controlled performance from Singapore, with clinical attacking play and multiple defensive intercepts. This resulted in Singapore scoring 35 goals while limiting Malaysia to just 16 in the second half.

The next match of the series is scheduled for this Saturday at 10.30am at Our Tampines Hub. The match is open to the public and free to attend.
