Defending their way through the match against Malaysia, Singapore has made it through to the semi-finals of the ASEAN Mitsubishi Electric Cup, and are preparing to face off against Vietnam at Jalan Besar Stadium. Seeing strong ticket sales, the Lions can expect a good supporter turnout and plenty of fans at the stadium to cheer them on.
At the pre-match conference, we heard from the Vietnam coach on their preparations for the match. “Everyone is ready to fight for victory and hopefully they have a good match tomorrow. Arrived two days ago with some training sessions, it rained a bit but the training has gone well, all team members focused on tomorrow’s match and hope it will be a good game,” he said.
“I think Singapore is very good at pressing opponents, which makes it a challenge, but we have studied their play style and most of the players are ready for the strong match SIngapore will present. There will be pressure, but as long as we are careful, I think we will do well for tomorrow’s match,” he added. “All the teams that have reached the semi finals have a very tight schedule, it is my first major international tournament working with the Vietnam national team, we are all tired, but we last won the tournament in 2018 and our aim is to win the cup in 2024 and bring glory back again.”
“I know not many Vietnamese fans will be with us in the stadium, but they are doing everything they can back in Vietnam, and all the players can feel it here, and I am thankful to all the fans, without which their support we would not be here, so we will be doing our best and going the extra mile as a team.”
