Brisbane Roar and the Women’s Premier League (WPL) All-Stars will go head to head this Friday for a stunning match, as part of Brisbane Roar’s five-day tour of Singapore from 1 to 5 April. Organised in partnership with the FAS, the tour aims to foster greater community engagement and provide valuable international exposure to the growing women’s football scene in Singapore.
Singaporean international Danelle Tan, currently playing for Brisbane Roar, is set to return home for the first time since making history as the first Singaporean woman to play professionally in Australia. She will lead the charge against some of the top talents in the WPL, including Still Aerion’s Sunisa ‘Nancy’ Srangthaisong, Albirex Niigata (S)’s Kana Kitahara—both with FIFA Women’s World Cup experience—alongside fellow Lionesses Rosnani Azman (Albirex Niigata) and Farhanah Ruhaizat (Geylang International).
For Tan, the match is more than just a homecoming—it’s a chance to reset and rediscover her rhythm. “It’s a really exciting opportunity,” she shared. “The past few games haven’t gone our way, so this tour is a refreshing experience to clear my head and get back to it.”
Tan and her Brisbane Roar teammate Grace Kuilamu both emphasised the rapid growth of women’s football and the increasing opportunities for young players. “Women’s football is growing quickly, and young talents are breaking into the scene. It’s always exciting to see players proving themselves early,” said Tan.
Kuilamu echoed the sentiment, highlighting the importance of starting young: “There are so many opportunities now. If you play with passion and put in the work, you can go far.”

The duo also stressed the team-oriented nature of the women’s game. “Men’s football tends to be more individualistic, but in women’s football, there’s a stronger focus on growing the team and celebrating the game together,” Tan noted.
As Brisbane Roar prepares for the WPL All-Stars challenge, Kuilamu emphasized the importance of team chemistry. “Having your team’s back at every minute on the pitch is crucial. One moment you’re winning, the next you’re chasing the game—playing as a unit is what makes the difference.”
For Tan, the journey in women’s football is all about perseverance and belief. “Keep dreaming and working hard. Small changes each day create massive improvements—not just for the team but across the industry and the globe.”
