The Singlife National League 2025 is officially underway and shaping up to be the biggest edition in the tournament’s history, with a record 94 teams competing, underlining the continued growth of netball in Singapore.
This year’s competition features 82 teams in the Women’s Open category, 12 in the Mixed category, and six age-group teams from Netball Singapore’s U17 and U19 developmental squads. This surpasses last year’s tally of 86 teams and reflects a vibrant, evolving ecosystem that spans recreational players to future national athletes.
New to Division 1 of the Singlife Nations Cup is Maverixx Elite, which recently captured the Women’s Open title at the Daisy Tan Carnival. Featuring several former national players, including Charmaine Soh and Kimberly Lim who have earned over 100 caps for Singapore, the team made its top-division debut yesterday and has set its sights on competing in future editions of the Deloitte Netball Super League. This season presents a key opportunity for the team to test itself against some of Singapore’s top clubs, including teams currently in the Netball Super League.
Norah Paul Gabriel, a current member of the Singapore A team who has competed in the past two editions of the Nations Cup, said: “It’s exciting to be part of the Maverixx Elite and to take on the challenge of competing in Division 1. The National League plays a big role in helping players step up. The chance to go up against experienced opponents makes every match a learning experience, especially for teams like us looking to break into the Netball Super League.”
Additionally, the Singlife National League continues to offer valuable match exposure for younger players as part of Netball Singapore’s efforts to develop emerging talents. Division 2 will feature the U19 Tertiary and U19 Schools teams, while Division 3 includes four U17 regional teams – North, South, East, and West –providing a structured, competitive platform for players across the country to showcase their potential.
Beyond high-performance, the league also celebrates netball’s strong social community. Competing in Division 7 – the lowest tier of the competition – are two teams from NET4MUMS, which is a social recreational initiative that welcomes players of all levels. Founded in 2016 for mothers of Singapore Netball Academy players, NET4MUMS has since evolved into an open club for women aged 35 to 55+ who want to stay active and continue enjoying the sport. Their participation underscores the inclusive spirit of the Singlife National League and reflects how netball provides a positive outlet for fitness, friendship, and community for women of all ages.
Organised annually by Netball Singapore and supported by title sponsor Singlife, the National League remains a cornerstone of the local netball calendar, providing a competitive platform for players of all ages and levels while helping identify future national representatives.
Netball Singapore CEO Daniel Ho said: “To see this level of participation is both heartening and exciting. It shows how deeply netball is embedded in our community and how strong the appetite is for competition at all levels. Whether it’s youth players stepping up or social players forming teams, the growth reflects a healthy, sustainable ecosystem for the sport.”
The Singlife National League 2025 runs from 26th May to 1st August 2025, with matches held at Kallang Netball Centre. Spectators are welcome. More information available here
