Sports: AUS, USA, HUN, ESP reach women’s water polo quarter-finals at Singapore 2025

AUS, USA, HUN and ESP have reached the women’s water polo quarter-finals of the World Aquatics Championships – Singapore 2025 after ending the group stage with a perfect record on Tuesday (15 July).

Defending champions USA (Group B), AUS (Group A) and HUN (Group C) achieved easy wins against ARG, NZL and debutants CRO respectively to seal top spot in their groups.

In the Group D decider, ESP lived up to their billing as reigning Olympic champions, defeating GBR 17-6 in their final group stage tie to make it three wins out of as many games so far. Both sides went into the clash on 15 July undefeated, with a confirmed berth in the quarter-finals at stake as Group D winners. Meanwhile, hosts SGP will face ARG in the classification round on 17 July after falling 32-5 to world No. 7 ITA and finishing last in Group A.
