Sports:  Skechers Friendship Walk 2025 Marks Its Marina Barrage Debut, Raising $10,000 for APSN

On Sunday morning, the scenic waterfront venue hosted one of Singapore’s most anticipated lifestyle and fitness events, organised by Skechers, The Comfort Technology Company™. For the first time, the Friendship Walk made its debut at Marina Barrage — and it didn’t disappoint.

This year’s Walk catered to all fitness levels with four dynamic categories. The 10KM Competitive Run kicked off at 7:00 AM, flagging off seasoned athletes eager to test their endurance. Minutes later, the 5KM Leisure Walk began, welcoming individuals, families, and groups of friends. Along the route, participants got to try quirky bonding activities like a Mini Photo Challenge and Walk the Plank mission, ensuring even the most casual walkers had a blast.

Mediacorp personality Hazelle Teo (@heyhihazelle) returned for her third year as host, keeping spirits high with her signature energy. Adding even more buzz were local stars Aileen Tan, Lee Teng, Pan Lingling, and Chef Eric Teo, who joined the walk in matching Skechers style. All were spotted sporting the event’s featured shoe: the GOwalk 8 Hands Free Slip-Ins®.

Designed for effortless comfort, the Slip-Ins® became the talk of the day: no bending or tying required, supportive Heel Pillow™ technology, Air-Cooled Goga Mat™ insoles, and lightweight ULTRA GO® midsoles made them the perfect choice for hours on your feet.

The Skechers Friendship Walk has always been about more than fitness, and also encompasses community. Continuing its long-standing partnership with APSN (Association for Persons with Special Needs), Skechers pledged $2 for every participant. With 5,000 registrations, the event raised an incredible $10,000 to support APSN’s mission of empowering individuals with mild intellectual disabilities through education, vocational training, and employment.

The cheque presentation became a highlight of the morning, with Skechers’ Southeast Asia leadership, Zann Lee, Irene Lee, and Eileen Tan, handing over the donation to APSN CEO Stanley Tang. The crowd was then treated to a moving performance by APSN beneficiary Samuel Lee En Ci, whose energetic dance had everyone clapping and joining in, embodying the spirit of inclusion and joy.

The day didn’t end at the finish line. The Skechers Race Village turned into a carnival of games, performances, and entertainment. Highlights included interactive stations like Quick Tap, Power Kick, Pickle Paddle Pop, Tune Trail, and Giant Bouncy Inflatable, along with cheer routines by the NTU Aces.

On stage, Skechers brought the laughs with its special game show “Guess the Price,” where participants competed to estimate the retail prices of Skechers products. Each round had the crowd cheering, gasping, and laughing, proving the Friendship Walk is as much about bonding as it is about exercise.

Of course, the competitive spirit shone too. In the 10KM Competitive Run, Subas Gurung claimed first place for men with an incredible 32:11 finish, while Nicole Low Sui Xuan dominated the women’s race at 39:42.

But the biggest cheers came during the much-anticipated lucky draw. Skechers gave away prizes ranging from full apparel sets to footwear, with the grand prize: a year’s supply of Skechers shoes worth $1,500, going to the ecstatic winner, Zi Qin Saw.

For Skechers, the day was about celebrating movement, connection, and purpose. As Zann Lee, Managing Director of Skechers Southeast Asia, shared: “It is truly inspiring to see over 5,000 participants come together, not only to embrace an active lifestyle and strengthen bonds, but also to support a cause close to our hearts.”

With its perfect mix of competition, community, and fun, the Skechers Friendship Walk 2025 proved once again why it’s a must-do event on Singapore’s fitness calendar — and a reminder that every step can make a difference.
