This October, Singapore’s photography community is set to get a rare glimpse into the fast-paced world of motorsport through the lens of one of its most celebrated photographers. Canon Singapore has announced a collaboration with Darren Heath, the award-winning British photographer renowned for transforming the spectacle of Formula One into works of art.
For more than three decades, Heath has been a fixture at racetracks around the globe. With over 550 Grands Prix captured through his camera, he has built a reputation not just for freezing moments of speed, but for reframing motorsport as an art form. His images, often bathed in natural light and rich colour, elevate racing beyond technical precision to showcase emotion, atmosphere, and artistry.

Now, for the first time, Heath will share the secrets of his craft with Singapore audiences in a seminar titled The Art of the Race, presented by Canon Singapore. Scheduled for 30 September 2025 at the Wyndham Singapore Hotel, the event will see Heath unpack his creative process and demonstrate the panning techniques that give his photos their signature dynamism. Attendees will hear stories from behind the pit lane, explore the challenges of capturing cars at blistering speeds, and learn how Heath brings together composition, timing, and intuition to tell compelling visual stories.
“Photography is about capturing a moment and telling a story through creativity, perspective, and emotion,” Heath says. “Partnering with Canon gives me the opportunity to share not just my work, but also my passion for the art with enthusiasts in Singapore.”
For Canon Singapore, the collaboration is part of a broader mission to inspire creativity and foster community engagement through photography. “We are thrilled to collaborate with Darren Heath on activities that embody Canon’s commitment to nurturing creative talent and inspiring new possibilities,” says Andrew Koh, Senior Vice President and Head of Singapore Operations, Canon Singapore. “By encouraging photographers to explore new ideas and experiment with techniques, we cultivate a vibrant community where creativity thrives.”

The event is expected to draw not only motorsport fans but also students, hobbyists, and professionals eager to refine their skills and connect with like-minded creators. Canon’s involvement in projects like this underscores its role as more than just a producer of imaging technology. By facilitating knowledge-sharing and creating spaces for education, Canon Singapore reinforces its vision of “kyosei”: living and working together for the common good.
As Heath’s visit approaches, excitement is already building among local photographers who see this as a rare chance to learn from a master of visual storytelling. For many, The Art of the Race is set to be an invitation to reimagine the possibilities of the camera.
