Sports: Singapore squad for November FIFA Window unveiled

Men’s National Team Interim Head Coach Gavin Lee today announced the 26-man Singapore squad for the upcoming FIFA International Window.

The Singapore side will take on Thailand in Pathum Thani on 13 November before facing Hong Kong, China at the Kai Tak Stadium five days later, in a winner-takes-all clash in Group C of the AFC Asian Cup qualifiers.

Heading into the final two matchdays, Singapore and Hong Kong are tied on eight points, with the latter occupying top spot on goal difference, having scored one goal more over the course of the qualifying campaign so far.

But, under the tournament’s competition regulations, head-to-head results take precedence over goal difference when teams are level on points. This means the winner of this encounter will be guaranteed top spot in Group C and, with it, qualification for the 2027 Asian Cup Finals in Saudi Arabia, irrespective of the results on the final matchday.

Lee has opted to reward players who have demonstrated consistency and strong form in the Singapore Premier League (SPL), while maintaining a core group that has been central to the Lions’ progress in this qualifying campaign.

Geylang International captain Joshua Pereira earns his first call-up since June 2024 after a string of commanding performances at the heart of the Eagles’ defence this season. There are also recalls for Lion City Sailors full-back Akram Azman and BG Tampines Rovers winger Faris Ramli, both of whom have impressed in recent domestic fixtures.

Faris’ return will further strengthen the Lions’ attacking depth, joining a frontline that includes Ikhsan and Ilhan Fandi, as well as Song Uiyoung, whose brace against India in October’s 2–1 victory in Goa reignited Singapore’s qualifying campaign.

Speaking ahead of the upcoming window, Lee emphasised focus and unity as key pillars in the team’s preparation.

“We are fully aware of the opportunity in front of us. We need the same focus on preparation, being together, and trusting our processes.”

“This is a moment for everyone – the team, the staff, and the fans – to come together. The belief and backing of our supporters will be that difference for us,” he added.

For fans planning to travel to Thailand to back the Lions at the Thammasat Stadium, tickets are available for purchase here.

Fans who are planning to travel to Hong Kong to back the Lions at the Kai Tak Stadium, are advised to register for the official waitlist here.

Registering for the waitlist does not guarantee or confirm a ticket to the match but it will ensure prompt updates with regards to ticketing, matchday arrangements and other essential information for the AFC Asian Cup Qualifier.

For supporters cheering on from home, there will be official watch parties across the country for Singaporeans to gather and rally behind the team. Further details will be shared in due course.
