A 23-strong Singapore Women’s National Team has been named for FIFA ‘A’ International matches against Seychelles in November, and December’s Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Chonburi, Thailand.

The first fixture, on Tuesday, 25 Nov, will be held behind closed doors, while the second takes place at Bukit Gombak Stadium on Friday, 28 Nov. These matches mark Singapore’s first encounter with Seychelles – an archipelago of 115 islands off the east coast of Africa – in three years, and serve as the Lionesses’ final preparation ahead of the SEA Games.

Head Coach Karim Bencherifa has called up several players with SEA Games experience, including members of the Lion City Sailors who recently returned from an admirable Asian Women’s Champions League group-stage campaign — Syazwani Ruzi, Umairah Hamdan, Nurhidayu Naszri, and Dhaniyah Qasimah. 

Sailors’ midfielder Dorcas Chu returns to the squad after missing national team duties this year due to injury. Joining them are Lionesses captain Rosnani Azman and her Albirex Niigata (S) team-mate Sitianiwati Rosielin. Joining the Singapore side are overseas-based players, Nippon TV Tokyo Verdy Beleza’s Danelle Tan and Venetia Lim, who plays for Eltham Redbacks in Australia’s second-tier, the Victoria Premier League Women.

The squad also includes a group of younger players who have recently earned senior caps and are set to feature in their first SEA Games campaign. Among them is Balestier’s Sharifah Nur Amanina, who made her senior debut during the recent friendlies against Saudi Arabia. The teenager previously represented Singapore in teqball at the 2023 SEA Games, where she clinched a historic gold medal in the women’s singles category during the sport’s debut as a demonstration event.

First-time call-ups Seri Nur Insyirah and Chantale Lamasan – both 16 – round off the selection. The pair, who are Unleash the Roar! (UTR) scholars were part of the Singapore side that finished second in the inaugural girls’ tournament at the 2025 Lion City Cup, and have since represented the nation across various Under-16 and Under-20 competitions. They now stand poised to earn their first senior caps at a major regional tournament.

“This year has been a challenging one for us – with tough results, and moments that really tested our belief as a team. But we’ve used all of that as motivation,” said team captain Rosnani. “Instead of letting setbacks define us, we’ve pushed each other to raise our standards, stay united, and we will use the November friendlies to build momentum, strengthen our confidence, and sharpen our style of play ahead of the SEA Games.

“Our goal is to compete with consistency and belief. We’ve been working hard in training, driving the competitiveness between us and making sure that intensity shows on the pitch. By sticking to the game plan and trusting the process, we believe we can deliver when it counts.,” added the 28-year-old.

Admission to the Seychelles ‘A’ International match on 28 Nov is free, and fans are required to register via this Google form link in advance. As capacity is limited, supporters are encouraged to secure their seats early. Each submission allows registration for up to four attendees. Seat registration will close once the limit has been reached.

The Lionesses will depart for Chonburi on 30 November. Their SEA Games campaign will kick off on Thursday, 4 December against Cambodia, before they face the hosts three days later, and round up the group stage on Wednesday, 10 Dec against Indonesia.
