Sports: Amateur Leagues Awards Night set to celebrate excellence in the 2025 season

The second edition of the Football Association of Singapore’s (FAS) Amateur Leagues Awards Night is set to return on Saturday, 17 January 2026, to celebrate the best and brightest across all amateur football competitions in Singapore.

The awards hosted at the Raffles Town Club will honour outstanding performers across the Women’s Premier League (WPL), Singapore Football League (SFL 1 and 2), and the Women’s National League (WNL).

WPL 2025 runners-up Still Aerion have a strong presence, with four representatives on the list of nominees, including Thailand international Sunisa Srangthaisong, who has been shortlisted for both WPL Player of the Year and WPL Goal of the Year.

Albirex Niigata (S) forward Ruriko Takashima, who emerged as the season’s top scorer to claim the Golden Boot, is also in contention for the Player of the Year accolade. Her Albirex teammate Kana Kitahara, who took on the dual roles of Head Coach and player, earns her first Coach of the Year nomination after steering the club to their first WPL title.

Eastern Thunder goalkeeper Izyan Ahmad continued to impress in the WNL, winning the league’s Golden Glove Award for the second consecutive season.

In the amateur men’s competitions, former Singapore international Steven Tan of Singapore Cricket Club is nominated for the SFL 1 Coach of the Year again, after winning the award last year, while Warwick Knights’ striker Amirul Walid, the SFL 2 Golden Boot winner, is also among the nominees for SFL 2 Player of the Year.

The final list of nominees – and winners – for the WPL and WNL were selected by a judging panel consisting of head coaches and team captains from the respective leagues, as well as National Women’s Team Head Coach Karim Bencherifa.

Similarly, the most outstanding players and coaches from SFL 1 and SFL 2 will be honoured, with nominees and winners chosen by a panel of head coaches and team captains from those leagues.
