Competitive game play expected at FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup 2026 qualifying draws
Singapore will also host the fan favourite FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup for the fifth consecutive year. As a staple in Singapore’s vibrant calendar of sporting events since 2022, the 2026 edition will feature 46 national teams from Asia and Oceania competing at OCBC Square at The Kallang from 1 to 5 April. Expect thrilling match-ups as defending champions Australia chase a sixth title in both the men’s and women’s categories. The FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup 2026 draw can be viewed here. The winners of the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup 2026 will qualify for the FIBA 3×3 World Cup 2027 which will be held in Singapore for the first time ever.
“We are incredibly excited to bring the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup to Singapore again, which has consistently provided a vibrant platform for elite competition and fan engagement,” said Alex Sanchez, FIBA 3×3 Managing Director. “With so many top teams and passionate supporters coming together, this year’s Asia Cup promises to be memorable. Singapore will host the World Cup Qualifier for the first time, and it should be quite the event. It will be a rare treat for the fans to watch many of the world’s best teams vie for World Cup spots.”
The FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup 2026 will kick off with two days of Qualifying Draws. Fans can expect highly competitive game play as 14 men’s teams and 16 women’s teams will battle for the top four spots for each category, to qualify for their respective Main Draws. In the men’s Main Draw, defending champion, Australia will face regional favourite Philippines, in Pool D. The Filipino squad will be looking to bounce back after missing out on the Main Draw last year, following a loss to India in their final game in the qualifying round.
In the women’s Main Draw, Pool B promises compelling action with Australia and China set to renew their rivalry. The two teams delivered a closely contested semi-final last year, with China ultimately settling for third place.
Singapore is drawn in the same pool as powerhouse, Japan, for both the men’s and women’s categories. The men’s team will be looking to build on their 2025 performance, where they booked a spot in the quarter-finals for the second time in tournament history, inspiring cheers from the home crowd.
“With the Asia Cup and our first World Cup Qualifiers around the corner, the excitement within the team is at an all-time high. Each time I’m called to represent Singapore, I’m reminded that pressure is a privilege. When I step onto the court, I am grateful for the opportunity to wear this flag. The team is leveraging the momentum from the recent SEA Games and qualification for Commonwealth Games as fuel to push our limits and compete at our best. Having both competitions in Singapore is unprecedented. We are eager to get back between the lines and fight for every possession in front of our fans,” said Singapore’s Nur Aufa Bin Emil Putra, captain of the men’s 3×3 team.
“We are proud to bring the local and international basketball community together at OCBC Square at The Kallang through hosting two consecutive world-class 3×3 basketball events. It will be a historic first for Singapore to host the FIBA 3×3 World Cup Qualifier, alongside our fourth consecutive year as organiser of the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup,” said Yazed Osman, Group Head, Events & Placemaking and Place Management, The Kallang Group. He added, “Over the years, through holistic programming that engages the community, we hope to nurture emerging talents and level up the capabilities of our local officials. We remain committed to bring the community even closer to the sport across two tournaments where every match counts, and are excited to continue championing basketball and deepening the affinity with the sport.”
