Sports: LUGANO claims 3X3.EXE Siper Premier title after thrilling final day in Singapore

LUGANO were crowned champions of the 3×3.EXE Super Premier 2025–26 season after defeating UTSUNOMIYA BREX.EXE 21-15 in the final at Sengkang Grand Mall on 29 March 2026. The Singapore stop marked both the debut of the 3×3.EXE Super Premier in the country and the final leg of the 2025–26 season, bringing together 12 of the top teams from across Asia-Pacific and Europe, following earlier rounds in Japan and Thailand.

Over two days, fans at Sengkang Grand Mall witnessed fast-paced, high-intensity matches as teams competed in the season’s decisive final stage.

LUGANO, featuring the quartet of Westher Molteni, Bikramjit Gill, Thibaut Vervoort, and Bryan De Valck, was imperious throughout the knockout rounds, seeing off Thai side RN SPORT.EXE 19-14 in the quarter-finals and edging BRISBANE 3X3.EXE 21-19 in a tightly contested semi-final, before pulling clear of UTSUNOMIYA BREX.EXE in the final. Bryan De Valck was the standout player in the decider, top-scoring for Lugano with 10 points, leading his side to the title.

LUGANO’s triumph earned them CHF 7,500 (SGD 12,100) in prize money and a main draw berth at the FIBA World Tour in Zadar on 15–16 May – a fitting reward for the Swiss side’s dominant campaign across all three legs of the season.

Having won the opening leg in Japan before losing the final in Thailand, LUGANO arrived in Singapore with unfinished business. “We came to this league trying to win every stop. Losing that one [in Thailand] was a tough one — we kind of lost our heads at the end of the game. We were one point down, made too many mistakes and totally threw away the game. So this time, every game, we were focusing on not losing our heads and staying focused on what we do best,” said Molteni.

Gill added, “Winning is winning at any level. To collect what we collected in the span of a month and a half through this league is a very big start to the year. It means a lot for everybody to put all their hands on deck to get us there.”

The free event delivered world-class 3×3 basketball right into the heartlands, enabling the community to witness elite competition up close.

Singapore fielded its senior national 3×3 team and U-23 side, along with an additional Singapore Invitational team, Singapore Red, competing against elite professional opposition on home soil.

The senior team, which achieved a historic silver medal at the SEA Games and qualified for this year’s Commonwealth Games, demonstrated resilience throughout the tournament with a standout performance and victory against champions LUGANO on Day 1, before losing to UTSUNOMIYA BREX.EXE 12-21 in today’s quarter-finals.

Low Jia Ren, Deputy Chief of the High Performance Sport Institute, Sport Singapore, said: “We’ve seen two days of exciting, high-quality 3×3 basketball, and it’s been great to watch our Team Singapore athletes step up against some of the region’s strong teams. Just as encouraging is the support from our local fans, who have created a fantastic atmosphere for the players and the sport.

Congratulations to LUGANO for an outstanding campaign to be crowned champions of the 3×3.EXE Super Premier League.

Events like this are important for our athletes—they provide valuable competition experience and help us raise our standards as we build towards major competitions. We have more 3×3 action coming up, including the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup and World Cup Qualifiers, and we look forward to seeing even more fans come down to support the sport in Singapore.”

Takaaki Nakamura, CEO of Xross Sports Marketing, said: “We are very pleased to bring the 3×3.EXE Super Premier to Singapore for the first time and to conclude this season here. The standard of competition across all three stops has been extremely high, and Singapore has provided a fantastic setting for the final. We look forward to continuing to develop the 3×3.EXE platform and expanding its global reach.”

The conclusion of the 3×3.EXE Super Premier sets the stage for a big year ahead for 3×3 basketball in Singapore, as Singapore builds towards the Asian Games and the Commonwealth Games. Closer to home, the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup (1–5 April 2026) and the FIBA 3×3 World Cup Qualifier (11–12 April 2026) will be held at OCBC Square, The Kallang, giving the team further opportunities to test themselves against top international competition as interest in 3×3 basketball continues to grow locally.
