Sea Limited (NYSE: SE), a global technology company founded in Singapore, today announced plans to donate S$50 million to support the long-term development of football in Singapore. The amount includes S$10 million already donated to the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) at the start of 2026. The remaining S$40 million will be progressively disbursed by Sea to support meaningful initiatives that can broaden participation, strengthen development pathways, and contribute to the growth of a more vibrant football ecosystem in Singapore. Sea intends to work closely with the government and the wider footballing community to deploy this funding effectively.
Sea firmly believes in the power of football to meaningfully engage communities; bringing together people of all ages and backgrounds as we unite behind a shared passion. Football can also promote well-being, foster teamwork, and inspire our youth to pursue their dreams. This belief has driven Sea to support local football for over a decade now:
● In 2016, the company’s gaming arm, Garena, sponsored the Young Lions football club.
● In 2020, Sea acquired Home United football club and transformed it into the Lion City Sailors.
● In 2022, LCS opened a new S$10 million training center with world-class facilities in Singapore spanning 28,000 square meters.
● In 2024, LCS’ consistent investments into youth development were recognized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) through the endorsement of LCS Football Academy as a two-star academy under the AFC Elite Youth Scheme – one of only four such academies recognized in Southeast Asia.
● In 2025, LCS blazed a trail for Singapore football internationally with the club progressing all the way to the 2025 AFC Champions League Two final. The match was also hosted by LCS at home in Singapore – a first for the country.
“We believe football can play a powerful role in bringing communities together, building character, and opening up opportunities for young people,” said Forrest Li, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sea. “Football has a unique ability to forge connections and inspire pride and joy through a shared sense of purpose. With Sea’s S$50 million donation, we hope to support the long-term development of football in Singapore and give back to the community that has played such an important role in Sea’s journey.”
This donation builds on Sea’s broader efforts to support communities in Singapore, including its S$50 million gift to the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2021. The corporate gift which remains the largest of its kind to NUS – was dedicated to advancing cutting-edge research and education at the NUS School of Computing. By leading the way in corporate support for Singapore football, Sea hopes to inspire like-minded philanthropic partners and commercial sponsors to join forces in bringing Singapore football to the next level.
