Sports: Singapore Under-17 Boys’ squad finalised for AFF U17 Championship

The Singapore Under-17 Boys’ squad for the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Under-17 Championship in Surabaya, Indonesia, set to take place from 11 to 24 April 2026, has been finalised.

Singapore has been drawn into Group C alongside Australia, Brunei Darussalam and Cambodia.

The team will be led by captain Zaki Jumlan under the guidance of Head Coach Ashraf Ariffin, whose selection reflects a blend of talent, versatility and potential.

Ashraf highlighted the work that has gone into preparing the team for the tournament.

“We’ve had a productive preparation phase in the lead-up to the competition. The boys have shown good commitment in training and have embraced the standards that we want to set as a team.

“Tournaments like this are an important opportunity for them to test themselves against strong opposition and continue their development on the international stage.”

Looking ahead to the group stage, he acknowledged the quality of the teams Singapore will face but emphasised the importance of focusing on the team’s own performance.

“We know that every team in this group will present a different challenge and the level of competition will be high.

“But ultimately, our focus remains on the things we can control – our effort, intensity and the way we apply ourselves on the pitch.”
