The first-ever JSSL Singapore FA Cup brings the heart and soul of youth football back into Singapore, with children aged 12 to 17 welcome to join this 4-a-side football tournament. Held from 10 to 12 December at Our Tampines Hub (OTH) the tournament is open to vaccinated boys and girls who want to spend their school holidays playing football. Registration is now open at www.jssl-cup.com. The event is supported by the Singapore Tourism Board, following earlier support for the JSSL Singapore International 7s from 2017 to 2019.
All games will comprise two 12-minute halves with a one-minute interval. The tournament will take place in two stages, with all teams in each age group playing in a league format on the first two days of the tournament. Teams will then enter the knock-out stage. The top two teams in the league will progress to the Cup competition while those who finish outside of the top two will join the Plate competition.
The final of the Cup competition will be graced by the JSSL FA Cup Guest of Honour and Legend, who will be announced later this week. An online “Guess the Guest of Honour” competition will be held, with winners to have a meet-and-greet and autograph session with the Guest of Honour at Our Tampines Hub.
All participating teams will receive medals, while the overall Cup and Plate winner of each age group will walk away with a trophy.
Mrs Rina Salleh, Director, JSSL Events said: “JSSL Singapore has always looked to add new and innovative events in the Singapore footballing community and to offer new and exciting experiences for Singapore’s youth. Creating opportunities for these young boys and girls to pursue their interest in football at all levels has been at the heart of JSSL. Our newly-launched tournament, the JSSL Singapore FA Cup, gives children another avenue to do so. In these challenging and tough times, we are excited to provide an opportunity for them to get back onto the pitch in a competitive and fun format. We hope all participants have an enjoyable and enriching time engaging in sport during their school holidays.”
Ms Ong Ling Lee, Director, Sports and Wellness, Singapore Tourism Board: “We are glad to support the new youth-focused JSSL Singapore FA Cup which adds to the diverse suite of sports and leisure offerings in Singapore. As the health and safety of participants and spectators remains a key priority, we have worked with organisers to put in place the necessary Safe Management Measures.”
Safe Management Measures in line with the prevailing national guidelines will be implemented at the JSSL Singapore FA Cup. These include designated venue zones and staggered arrival times. All players, coaches and staff must have completed their full vaccination regimen, and complete a supervised, onsite Antigen Rapid Test (ART) daily, prior to entering the venue.
