Objects of Desire: IKEA Singapore’s RestFest encourages better relaxation and proper rest in sleep-deprived Singapore

With the constant chasing of dreams and climbing the corporate and social ladder, doing everything we can to get ahead, Singapore has been ranked as the third most sleep-deprived country in the world. It’s not uncommon to see students, officer workers or just, anyone really, trying to catch a nap at places ranging from public transport, to a comfortable (enough) seat at the library. How do we help resolve that? IKEA Singapore seems to have a solution.

Enter IKEA’s RestFest, a new campaign that promotes better sleep through better products. From lighting to bedding, pillows to curtains, RestFest is all about optimising your bedroom to get the ultimate rest you need before coming back even stronger. Running from 5th to 15th September 2024, IKEA Singapore is offering exclusive discounts on sleep-related products, and even an event from 6th to 8th September where you can come dressed in your pyjamas to IKEA stores, with exciting prizes and discounts to be nabbed.

One of the most coveted items is the RESTEN limited edition bag. Not available for sale, the cheeky bag is a puffy reimagination of the iconic blue FRAKTA bag, developed in partnership with creative agency, The Secret Little Agency. Soft and comfy, the bag is intended to act as a pseudo-pillow, crafted with ultra comfortable fabrics and stuffing, culminating in a padded design that makes it a perfect, portable cushion to lie on on the go, whenever you need to, while also actually being able to contain your items.

“With the entire country running on overtime, rest is often sought in unconventional places, and we saw the opportunity to bring comfort to the busy lives of Singaporeans by creating the world’s most “rest-able” bag for one of the world’s most rest-less countries” said Nicholas Ye & Mavis Neo, Chief Creative Officers, The Secret Little Agency.

Caroline Ng, Country Marketing Manager of IKEA Singapore said: “We know sleep is important, and rest is a vital yet often overlooked part of Singaporean lives. IKEA has a wide range of well-designed and affordable products to help you get there, and what better way to launch it with our new ‘Leave the rest to IKEA’ year-long campaign that kicks off with our first-ever RestFest and the RESTEN bag. It reminds us of our busy lifestyles, the importance of finding opportunities for rest, and that Singaporeans can simply leave the rest to us.”

IKEA’s RestFest runs from 5th to 15th September 2024. More information available here
