Shopping Time: Southeast Asia’s First Mofusand Festive Takeover Lands at CapitaLand Malls

This Christmas, Singapore is about to get a serious dose of cuteness overload. The wildly popular Japanese cat sensation Mofusand is making its Southeast Asian debut, and it’s taking over 17 CapitaLand malls and workspaces islandwide.

From 5 November 2025, shoppers will find themselves whiskered away into a world of adorable cats dressed as sharks, fruits, and baristas, as CapitaLand launches the largest Mofusand-themed holiday campaign ever seen in the region.

The festive excitement began with a purr-fect teaser in October, when an eight-metre-tall Mofusand inflatable and 25 mischievous cat figures popped up around Singapore, delighting fans and sparking a social media frenzy. Now, the full takeover is here — and it’s set to turn the island into a playground of paws and pastel joy.

Each participating mall will be decked out in one of three irresistibly themed worlds:
Board Shark – Surfside fun featuring cats in shark suits riding the waves.
Fruit Meow – A tropical paradise where watermelon and banana-clad kitties frolic.
Coffee & Donuts – Cosy café corners dotted with giant donuts, pink coffee cups, and festive décor.

For the ultimate all-in-one Mofusand experience, head to Bugis Junction, the only mall featuring all three themes under one roof. And don’t forget to look up — the iconic 8-metre “Donut Meow” inflatable will be making appearances at Capital Tower and Plaza Singapura, while Raffles City Singapore takes the spotlight with a majestic Mofusand “Christmeow” Tree, a festive showstopper that’s as Instagrammable as it is heartwarming.

“We’re thrilled to bring Southeast Asia’s first-ever Mofusand Christmas to life,” said Ervin Yeo, CapitaLand’s Group Chief Strategy Officer & CEO, Commercial Management. “By partnering with beloved IPs like Mofusand, we’re creating immersive experiences that connect emotionally with our shoppers — and this festive campaign is our most adorable yet.”

Adding to the merriment, Raffles City Singapore will also host Mofusand’s first F&B collaboration outside Japan with Sushi Tei. From 5 November, diners can enjoy a limited-edition themed menu featuring kawaii dishes like the Neko Ebi Roll and Tochigi Wagyu Steak, along with desserts that look almost too cute to eat.

The restaurant will be decked out in Mofusand décor, offering the full “eat, snap, repeat” experience before the menu rolls out to other Sushi Tei outlets across the island.

For the first time ever outside Japan, fans can meet the Shark Meow mascot up close during special meet-and-greet sessions happening across CapitaLand malls this December. Shoppers can redeem exclusive photo passes via the CapitaStar app (using the code <MEETMOFU>) and snap the perfect festive selfie with their favourite feline. The mascot will appear at locations including Bugis+, Funan, Plaza Singapura, and Westgate — so mark your calendars!

What’s a festive celebration without shopping? Six Mofusand pop-up stores are opening across Singapore, featuring exclusive merchandise like Teddy Bear Meow plushies, cushion blankets, and foldable duffel bags — all imported from Japan and available only here.

Each pop-up, from Bugis+ (5–30 Nov) to Bugis Junction (12 Jan–22 Feb), promises a new lineup of collectables, interactive photobooths, and even claw machines for a little extra fun.

“Our goal has always been to share joy through these softly expressive, playful cats,” said Taro Morishima, President and CEO of Spiralcute International, which manages the Mofusand brand. “This collaboration with CapitaLand lets fans experience Mofusand’s world in delightful new ways — from themed décor to mascot appearances.”

For those who can’t resist a good selfie, CapitaLand has launched Mofusand AR filters in all three themes — so you can twin with your favourite cat online. Fans can also join the Festive Fur-tography Contest, posting their best photos with the Mofusand displays on Instagram for a chance to win $50 eCapitaVouchers.

And for the savvy shoppers, there’s even more reason to celebrate. Through the CapitaStar app, spending $50 or more unlocks digital Mofusand stamps, exclusive eCapitaVoucher rewards, and collectible holiday premiums — making every shopping trip a rewarding one.

Beyond its pastel-hued cuteness, the Mofusand takeover embodies what the holidays are truly about — connection, joy, and shared moments. As families, fans, and friends gather under the glowing lights of CapitaLand malls, each meow-ment promises to be a little brighter, a little warmer, and a whole lot cuter.

So grab your camera, your shopping bags, and maybe a few extra tissues for the squeals of delight — because this Christmas, Mofusand is taking over Singapore, one paw at a time.
