Representing the host nation, world No. 12 Loh Kean Yew leads Singapore’s five-strong contingent, once again shouldering home hopes in the men’s singles alongside Jason Teh Jia Heng. In men’s doubles, the pairing of Wesley Koh Eng Keat and Kubo Junsuke will make their KFF Singapore Badminton Open debut, while Yeo Jia Min enters as Women’s Singles Reserve No. 1, as she has slipped outside the top 32 due to an injury layoff, nevertheless keeping her in contention for a spot in the main draw.
“We’re thrilled to have qualified for this year’s Singapore Badminton Open — especially knowing it will be the tournament’s final edition as a Super 750 series,” said Koh. “Getting to compete in front of a home crowd on such a historic occasion is something really special, and it gives us that extra drive to play our best and put on a performance the fans can be proud of.”
“The Badminton Asia Championships was a great learning experience — pushing the world number ones to a close second game showed us what we’re capable of,” said Kubo. “We’re taking everything from that match into our first game here and going in with full commitment, courage and determination.”
