Head Coach Gavin Lee has confirmed the 25 players who will represent Singapore at the ASEAN Championship Hyundai Cup 2026, which runs from 24 July to 26 August.

The Lions begin their Group A campaign on Friday, 24 July with an away fixture against Cambodia in Phnom Penh before returning home to face Timor-Leste on 27 July. They then travel to face defending champions Vietnam on 31 July, before concluding the group stage on home soil against Indonesia on 7 August.

The 10-team tournament is split into two groups, with the top two sides from each group advancing to the semi-finals.

Having reached the semi-finals in 2024, the Lions face a demanding start to this year’s campaign, playing three matches in eight days.

Lee, however, believes the team’s preparations have been purposefully designed to equip the squad for exactly these challenges.

“The training camp in Okinawa was designed with this tournament in mind. We wanted to expose the players to demanding opposition, quick turnarounds between matches, and the physical and mental demands that come with tournament football,” said Gavin Lee, Head Coach, Singapore Men’s National Football Team.

“Throughout the camp, we spoke about owning the discomfort rather than avoiding it. Those experiences have helped prepare us for what’s ahead and, more importantly, allowed us to continue developing the behaviours and identity that we want this team to be known for.”

Following the completion of the centralised training camp, Lee has finalised a squad that combines continuity with a handful of enforced changes due to injuries sustained during preparations.

Among the notable inclusions is 39-year-old goalkeeper Ridhuan Barudin, who replaces the injured Rudy Khairullah. The veteran custodian, who has amassed over 100 Singapore Premier League appearances, impressed during the latter stages of the domestic season after stepping in for the injured Zharfan Rohaizad at Hougang United.

Lee explained that Ridhuan’s experience and character made him an ideal addition to the group.

“Firstly, we’re naturally disappointed for Rudy, who worked extremely hard throughout the camp and would have been a valuable member of this squad. In Ridhuan, we’re bringing in someone whose qualities extend beyond what he offers on the pitch. He’s an experienced professional and understands what it means to put the team first. Those characteristics are invaluable in tournament football, and we’re confident he’ll provide excellent support to the goalkeeping group and the wider squad.”

Versatile defender Akram Azman also returns to the National Team, having last featured for the Lions against Thailand in November 2025.

With preparations complete, Lee believes the squad is ready to carry the lessons of the past few weeks into the tournament.

“We’ve spoken throughout this journey about allowing our performances to determine our destination. If we consistently produce the level of performances we’re capable of, then we should be a lot closer to giving everyone a National Team that they can be proud of.”

Tickets for Singapore’s home fixture against Timor-Leste are now on sale, while tickets for the Lions’ final Group A match against Indonesia will go on sale on Wednesday, 22 July.
