Sports: 2026/27 SPL season returns on 11 September

The Singapore Premier League (SPL) returns this September, with the new campaign kicking off on 11 September.

The season’s curtain-raiser, the Community Shield, will take place on Sunday, 6 September, when the 2025/26 SPL champions Lion City Sailors take on Tampines Rovers at Jalan Besar Stadium. Kick-off is at 7.30pm.

The SPL2 will get its campaign underway even earlier, with Tampines Rovers hosting Hougang United at Our Tampines Hub on Monday, 24 August, giving clubs’ developmental squads an early taste of competitive action ahead of the main League season. This season also sees a notable shift in the League’s club landscape. Tampines Rovers’ partnership with BG Pathum has come to an end, and moving forward, the Stags will drop the “BG” prefix as they return to their traditional identity. Meanwhile, Albirex Niigata (S) will compete as FC Jurong, continuing the club’s transition towards operating under the same regulations as Singapore-based clubs.

The 2026/27 SPL season begins on Friday, 11 September, with Tampines Rovers hosting Balestier Khalsa at Our Tampines Hub to open Matchweek 1.

Hougang United welcome Lion City Sailors to Bishan Stadium the following day, before Young Lions face FC Jurong at Jalan Besar Stadium on 13 September. Matchweek 1 concludes on 14 September with Geylang International hosting Tanjong Pagar United, again at Our Tampines Hub. All four fixtures will kick off at 7.30pm.
