Singapore’s women’s football will take centre stage this October, as the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) hosts Women’s Football Week from 3 to 11 October.
The programme will bring together the senior Lionesses, the Under-16 pathway, and the Women’s Premier League (WPL), giving fans more opportunities to experience the women’s game while supporting efforts to continuously raise standards across the football ecosystem.
Through international matches, player appearances, and a domestic league showcase, Women’s Football Week aims to create more competitive and development opportunities for players, provide greater visibility for the women’s game, and build sustained fan engagement ahead of the Lionesses’ final two home fixtures of the year in November.
“Women’s football in Singapore has grown over the past few seasons, both in the opportunities available to players and in the interest around the game. Women’s Football Week is about building on that momentum by creating more opportunities for people to experience and engage with the women’s game,” said Bernice Wong, newly appointed Head of Women’s Football at FAS.
“Our aim over these nine days is to give more people a chance to experience women’s football for themselves — whether that means watching a match, discovering a player or club they want to follow, or simply coming down to support the game. We want Women’s Football Week to be a starting point for more people to engage with the women’s game beyond these nine days.”
Women’s Football Week opens with a fan meet-and-greet on 3 and 4 October (12pm–2pm) at Takashimaya Square B2, held within the mall’s wider “SJ60” event (29 September–11 October) marking 60 years of Singapore–Japan diplomatic relations.
Fans will have the chance to meet the Lionesses and Head Coach Mihoko Ishida, with Farhanah Ruhaizat, Umairah Hamdan, Putri Syaliza, Venetia Lim, Dhaniyah Qasimah, Lim Li Xian and Irsalina Irwan set to take part. More details will be announced soon.
The week’s centrepiece sees Singapore host Group B of the AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup China 2027 Qualifiers at Bishan Stadium at 8pm, with the Under-16 Girls facing Saudi Arabia (5 October), Bahrain (8 October) and Indonesia (11 October). Each group winner advances to the China 2027 Finals alongside DPR Korea, Japan, Australia and China PR, who qualified automatically from the 2026 edition.

The 23-player squad is led by Head Coach Angeline Chua, a former Lioness with 32 caps and one international goal. Chua returns to FAS after previously spending eight years coaching within the national set-up, including as Head Coach of Singapore’s Under-14 women’s team. She subsequently held head coaching roles with the Seychelles and Fiji Football Federations, most recently guiding Fiji’s U19 side to third place at a regional championship.
The 37-year-old said: “Playing at this level for the first time will be a big step for many of the players, so our priority is to set the standard and show the identity we want to have on the pitch. We want the players to be brave, disciplined and committed to what we have worked on, while continuing to learn and improve throughout the tournament. Playing at home also gives us the chance to have our community behind us, and I hope the girls can draw energy from that support as they take on this challenge together.”
The group also welcomes back two Unleash The Roar! (UTR!) overseas scholars, Celine Koh and Aria Romano, alongside the squad’s most experienced player, Ain Salleh, who made her senior Lionesses debut on 3 June 2026 in a 2-0 win over Indonesia.

WPL All-Stars: The league’s best, head-to-head
Women’s Football Week will culminate in the WPL All-Stars, bringing together 36 players from across the league for two showcase matches: on 7 October at Our Tampines Hub and 10 October at Jurong East Stadium, both kicking off at 7.30pm.
Scheduled during the international window, the matches will provide WPL players with a high-quality competitive platform while creating opportunities for them to train and compete alongside teammates from different clubs. Each team will feature no more than three foreign players, ensuring strong representation of local talent.
The format will also give coaches from across the WPL an opportunity to work with the players, while Lionesses Head Coach Mihoko Ishida and her coaching staff can observe players from the wider WPL pool in a different setting. This provides a meaningful competitive opportunity during the window, while allowing the coaching staff to broaden their view of the players available to them.
Team White is led by Lion City Sailors Head Coach Daniel Ong, who has guided the Sailors to four WPL titles, including three consecutive titles from 2022 to 2024. Team Red is led by Hafeez Shahni, currently Head of the Girls Programme at JSSL Singapore, who coached Tampines Rovers’ WPL side in the 2026 season.
Team Red features FC Jurong’s Ruriko Takashima, the club’s top scorer this season with 43 goals, alongside player-coach Kana Kitahara, the league’s all-time leading scorer with 65 goals. A former Japan international, Kitahara represented her country at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The squad also includes Tampines’ top scorer Victoria Hudson, Geylang captain Farhanah Ruhaizat, and Lion City Sailors goalkeeper Beatrice Tan.
Team White features a mix of established names and emerging local talent, including Putri Syaliza, who returns to action after missing the Lionesses’ last two international windows through injury. Now back in Singapore, Putri will be looking to get valuable minutes on the pitch as she works towards a return to the national team setup.
She is joined by Lion City Sailors defender Irsalina Irwan, one of the eight inaugural recipients of the UTR! Overseas Scholarship. Other call-ups include Irsalina’s teammate, Ami Kawase, a 14-year-old attacker who marked her WPL debut this season with a brace and has scored 11 goals this season, Balestier Khalsa’s Sharifah Nur Amanina and Tiong Bahru’s Lim Li Xian.
Both teams will be kitted by local apparel brand Alpha Equips, founded by Still Aerion WFC coach and Lionesses coaching staff member Jeremy Chiang.

As a proud Singapore brand, Alpha Equips wants to support that work — not only by providing the kits, but also by supporting initiatives that give more people the opportunity to experience the women’s game. Entry to the WPL All-Stars match and the AFC tournament is free for fans who follow WPL‘s and FAS‘ official Instagram accounts respectively. Fans will simply need to show that they are following the page upon entry.
