Sports: Football legends from top international football clubs visit Bird Paradise and have kickabout with children from local football academies

Ahead of the 2023/2024 football season in Europe’s top leagues, Singapore fans can look forward to a week of thrilling action as the Republic will host the inaugural Singapore Festival of Football Driven by CDG Zig from 26 July to 2 August. Liverpool FC, Leicester City FC, FC Bayern Munich, Tottenham Hotspur and AS Roma are all set to play at the National Stadium.

Following the official launch of the event at Pan Pacific Singapore on 16 May, football legends John Barnes (Liverpool FC), Emile Heskey (Leicester City FC), Giovane Elber (FC Bayern Munich), Gary Mabbutt (Tottenham Hotspur) and Marco Cassetti (AS Roma) enjoyed a sumptuous lunch at the Crimson Restaurant at the newly opened Bird Paradise in Mandai.

The legends also participated in a unique presentation featuring hornbills, learning about the birds and feeding them blueberries. To round up their visit, they joined more than 60 children aged eight to 11 from the Lion City Sailors Football Academy and the ActiveSG Football Academy for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of a kickabout at the Lion City Sailors Training Centre in Mattar Road. The Lion City Sailors are the partners in football for the Singapore Festival of Football Driven by CDG Zig.
