The 8th edition of the Italian Cuisine Week in the world started on 6th November with pre-events, and will continue until 1st December with the Gala dinner organized by the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Singapore. As with previous editions, this event will not only celebrate the excellence of Italian cuisine but also foster cultural exchange between Italy and Singapore through numerous collaborations with local partners.

Through a series of initiatives, the Italian Cuisine Week will immerse participants in a celebration of culture and gastronomy. Special emphasis will be placed on the promotion of Italian wines to further strengthen our presence in Singapore. Notably, Italy remained Singapore’s 2nd largest European wine supplier in early 2023, with 9.5 million euros in exports, marking a 1.2% increase from the same period in 2022. Commencing with Borsa Vini, a one-day B2B event organized by the Italian Trade Agency, where over 300 commercial partners, importers, distributors, restaurants, sommeliers, and journalists based in Singapore will be invited to explore offerings from 21 top Italian wine producers representing 8 different regions.
An exciting addition to this year’s program is “A Speed-Tasting Journey Through Italian Native Grapes,” a captivating Masterclass guided by local sommelier Jessica Anne Tan from SingaPoured.com. to explore the secrets, history, traditions, and cultural significance of Italy’s indigenous grapes. Other significant events such as seminars on urban farming, the impact of dietary choices on emotional well-being and cognitive function, the Mediterranean diet and the benefits of olive oil will take place.

Additionally, there will be dedicated menus in many Italian restaurants and various dining experiences paired with Italian wines, masterclasses with local sommeliers, and online and offline promotions of Italian food and wine.
In particular, the Embassy highlights the partnership between the prestigious At-Sunrice GlobalChef Academy, renowned for its dedication to culinary excellence and the Italian Sommelier Association (AIS). The AIS has a long history dating back to 1965 and has been celebrated for its commitment to promoting wine and education in the field of oenology. On the other hand, the At-Sunrice GlobalChef Academy had built an important reputation for its culinary education programs in Singapore over the years. The collaboration has been made possible thanks to Ferrari Food + Wine and Alan Serrecchia as AIS representatives for Singapore and is aimed to develop and implement sommelier courses, fusing the AIS’s wine knowledge with the academy’s culinary excellence, that will allow students to dive deep into the harmonious relationship between food and wine.

The official launch will be at the Italian event on November 12th at At-Sunrice. The initiative will feature a marketplace of authentic Italian products and delicacies, exquisite dining experience featuring the flavours of LUCE by Davide Giacomelli supported by the Embassy of Italy and a wine and cheese tasting class organized by Ferrari Food + Wine. In addition, a ravioli class for kids and families will add a touch of playfulness to the event.
Furthermore, the Embassy of Italy announces its commitment to the Diplomat Private Chef programme organized by the At-Sunrice GlobalChef Academy. The programme will last 8 days and will provide future private chefs with an immersive Italian culinary experience. Participants will learn the secrets of Italian cuisine as well as the settings and protocols used during official receptions in a diplomatic and high-level context, preparing a menu to be served at the Ambassador’s house.

“Some of this year’s events will focus on specific Italian regions,” declared the Italian Ambassador to Singapore, Dante Brandi. “We will be pleased to welcome the President of the Piedmont Region, Hon. Alberto Cirio, who will grace the XXIV World Auction of the White Truffle of Alba at Art di Daniele Sperindio. This prestigious event not only promotes Italian gastronomy but also supports a charitable cause: the proceeds from the silent auction and the dinner will be donated to Singapore Children Society. Among the prizes is an exclusive dinner for guests at the residence, specially crafted by Chef Sperindio.”
“During the Italian cuisine week, several dinners with wineries from Veneto, Piedmont, Tuscany, Lombardy, Sardinia, and Sicily will be held, celebrating the rich taste and culinary history of Italy and indulging in the flavors of each Region. In addition to the gastronomic celebrations, I am also very delighted for the collaboration between AIS and the At-Sunrise Chef Academy to develop a joint educational program: students will be more prepared in a very demanding hospitality industry and I am glad to contribute also to their private chef course with an effective “hands-on” collaboration.”

“Finally, the Italian Embassy is co-organizing an event with a scientific and technological connection with food. Food-tech was indeed one of the areas of common interest of the executive program in Science&Technology recently signed between our countries. Therefore, on November 14th at the Singapore Institute of Technology, the bilateral project “BIZE_UrFarm” will be presented within the general theme of urban farming”.
