Tipple Time: Singapore’s own Brass Lion Gin celebrates National Day with new Hawthorn gin, a party and giveaways

In celebration of Singapore’s 59th birthday, Brass Lion Distillery, Singapore’s pioneering micro-distillery for artisanal gin, gears up to launch a vibrant lineup of events running throughout July and August. The launch of a brand new Hawthorn Gin, created as an ode to Singaporean craftsmanship and culture, anchors the festivities. These include exclusive discounts on distillery tours, a National Day party, nostalgic tikam-tikam games with giveaways, trivia quiz nights, guest shifts featuring National Day cocktails, and exciting retail deals.

“Commemorating our Singaporean roots has always been at the heart of Brass Lion Distillery. We take immense pride in crafting spirits that embody the rich tapestry of the nation, and aim to share our passion for Singapore’s heritage with every bottle. This National Day, we invite everyone to join us in celebrating the spirit of our vibrant country,” shares Jamie Koh, founder of Brass Lion Distillery.

Brass Lion Distillery kicks off the month of August with the launch of a brand new Hawthorn Gin, a Singaporean take on a sloe gin which features tangy Asian hawthorn berries. Crafted in homage to the spirit of Singapore and in celebration of this year’s National Day, Brass Lion Hawthorn Gin embodies the playful nostalgia of growing up in Singapore. This juicy and fruity spirit features tart and tangy notes from ripe hawthorn berries unfolding into a delicate, lingering sweetness.

“We’re incredibly proud to have created this artisanal Hawthorn Gin for gin aficionados in Singapore,” explains Amy Koh, Head of Manufacturing at Brass Lion Distillery. “Taking the hugely popular classic sloe gin recipe as our inspiration, we worked to create something that is equally delicious, but instead celebrates the regional flavours and traditions of Singapore with every sip. To Singaporeans, many of us have fond memories of enjoying haw flakes as a snack whilst growing up here. From rushing to the local convenience store after school and sharing it with friends, to spending last bits of pocket money on this sweet treat, haw flakes have always been part of our cherished childhood memories. Now, we invite everyone to enjoy Brass Lion’s Hawthorn Gin that is absolutely delicious served with Indian tonic water and an orange twist.”

To add to the National Day nostalgia, Brass Lion is offering delicious hawthorn fruit strips, created from spent botanicals from the gin, with every bottle of Hawthorn Gin purchased at their distillery and on their website. Available while stocks last, these fruit strips not only provide a tasty afternoon snack, but also a perfect garnish to a Hawthorn Gin & Tonic. Guests can order a bottle here.

During the months of July and August, gin lovers can experience an exclusive discounted opportunity todelve into the art of gin making, as Brass Lion Distillery invites guests to participate in a special 2-for-$59 distillery tour package (U.P. $90+).

Led by seasoned experts, guests will embark on an intimate journey through their Alexandra Terrace location, witnessing the craftsmanship and process behind this hugely popular spirit and learning about the hybrid copper used to create every bottle of Brass Lion Gin. The experience rounds off with a tasting flight of the brand’s acclaimed gins.

Enthusiasts can go one step further and distill their own gin, choosing from a range of botanicals to tailor their dream flavour profile. This is available at an additional cost at the Gin School workshop.  Bookings for these tours can be made directly on the Brass Lion Distillery website.
