Hotels & Holidays: Mercure Opens Its First Hotel in Hiroshima with Mercure Tokyu Stay Hiroshima,

Travellers heading to Hiroshima now have a stylish new place to stay with the opening of Mercure Tokyu Stay Hiroshima, marking Accor’s first hotel in the historic Japanese city.

Located in the lively Hatchobori district, the 182-room hotel is also the second dual-branded collaboration between Mercure and Tokyu Stay in Japan, combining Mercure’s locally inspired hospitality with Tokyu Stay’s expertise in accommodation designed for both short and extended stays.

Just a two-minute walk from Hatchobori Station on the Hiroshima Electric Railway, the hotel offers easy access to the city’s shopping, dining and cultural attractions, making it an ideal base for exploring one of Japan’s most fascinating destinations.

Inspired by Hiroshima’s nickname as the “City of Water”, the hotel’s interiors embrace a “Beauty of Water and Light” concept, drawing on the city’s rivers and waterways through contemporary design that reflects the destination’s unique character.

Beyond its guestrooms, the hotel features a Share Lounge—a coworking and lifestyle space that’s open to both guests and locals—along with meeting rooms and a fitness centre, creating a welcoming environment for work, relaxation and social gatherings.

Local culture is woven throughout the guest experience. Breakfast includes artisan bread created in partnership with Hiroshima’s long-established Aloft Bakery, while coffee is sourced from local favourite Mount Coffee, giving visitors a taste of the city’s thriving food and coffee scene.

“We are delighted to celebrate the opening of Mercure Tokyu Stay Hiroshima,” said Garth Simmons, Chief Operating Officer of Accor’s Premium, Midscale & Economy Division in Asia. He described the hotel as an important milestone for the group’s growing presence in Japan and noted that the dual-brand concept offers travellers a distinctive hospitality experience rooted in the local culture.

The opening also marks the 20th Mercure hotel in Japan, further expanding the brand’s footprint in one of Asia’s most popular travel destinations. Mercure now operates more than 1,000 hotels across over 70 countries, with each property designed to reflect the culture, flavours and stories of its local community.
