Singapore Men’s Under-20 National Team Head Coach Syed Azmir has named a 24-man squad for the AFC U20 Asian Cup China 2027 Qualifiers, with the team set to travel to Bhutan on Sunday, 23 August.
Singapore have been drawn into Group J alongside hosts Bhutan, Chinese Taipei and Macau, with the qualifiers taking place from 25 August to 6 September 2026.
The U20s will open their campaign against hosts Bhutan on Monday, 31 August, before facing Macau three days later. They will conclude their group stage campaign against Chinese Taipei on Sunday, 6 September.
Midfielder Andy Reefqy will captain the side, with Luth Harith named vice-captain. Both players featured regularly for Young Lions in the Singapore Premier League last season, while Luth also gained valuable experience with the senior National Team during the recent ASEAN Championship Hyundai Cup 2026.
Among the notable inclusions are 16-year-old goalkeeper Ilhan Rezal, who impressed during the ASEAN U19 Boys’ Bank Sumut Championship 2026 in June. His inclusion provides another opportunity for the young custodian to gain international experience and accelerate his development.
The squad also includes a number of players who featured prominently during the June tournament, as Syed Azmir looks to build on the foundations laid by the team since the start of the year.
Speaking ahead of the qualifiers, Syed Azmir highlighted the progress made by the group since their campaign in Indonesia and the importance of continuing that development in Bhutan.
“Since the ASEAN U19 Boys’ Bank Sumut Championship in June, the players have shown good progress both individually and as a team. We have been able to work on different aspects of our game and the players have responded well to the demands placed on them.
“The qualifiers will be another important step in their development. We know the challenges ahead, but we are looking forward to seeing how the team performs and continuing to build on the progress we have made together.”
