Singapore’s first ever specialty shop serving up sweet and savoury cinnamon rolls has well, rolled into town, as rrooll sets up shop at Jewel Changi Airport. Not only will they be selling their classic cinnamon roll; they’ll also be serving up four other sweet variations, and three savoury ones, all wrapped in rrooll’s signature fluffy dough.
Founder Wilbert Tedja was formerly from the baking industry, and spent his childhood days eating cinnamon rolls. “To me, cinnamon rolls are nostalgic, and part of my youth. The recipe has evolved and grown, but I always go back to that familiar, childhood taste, the smell of the rolls ingrained in my memory,” he says.
Wilbert first came up with the idea during the circuit breaker period, and decided to make the leap from the corporate world in civil service and banking to this first F&B foray, after plans to franchise a venture in Indonesia fell through due to the COVID-19 situation. The name rrooll takes inspiration from the forward-backward kneading motion in making the dough that goes into each roll, with the double letters representing the brand’s dual offerings of both sweet and savoury rolls.
The rolls were conceived after 6 months of R&D, developing recipes, flavours, and methods, including the type of flour and pairing ingredients used. The resulting rolls are about 10cm in diameter, and makes for the perfect breakfast or afternoon snack. The sweet dessert flavours available include classic cinnamon, hazelnut rocher, and sweet cheese, as well as fruity treats such as cinnamon apple and cocoa orange. The cinnamon itself is sourced from Korintje, Indonesia, famed for their cinnamon, and topped with premium cream cheese frosting.
rrooll is also the first specialty cinnamon roll brand in Singapore to offer savoury options. Set to take your tastebuds on a world tour, these comprise the Italian inspired ‘Hawaiian’ flavour, Japanese inspired curry flavour, and Korean inspired garlic and cheese flavour.

Specially hand-molded into the shape of a lovely heart, the Sweetheart Cinnamon Roll contains a luscious combination of rich buttery cinnamon filling and fluffy light dough, accompanied by premium cream cheese frosting.
