F1 Season 2025: Beyond the Circuit – Eight Breweries, One Rebel Brew

Eight breweries, eight voices, and one common goal: to create a beer that could stand as both a toast to Singapore’s craft beer community and a quiet act of rebellion against the “big boys” dominating the Formula 1 scene.

As Mitch Gribov, head brewer of Brewerkz put it, “Heineken has the official beers for F1. That effectively locks us out of the circuit. And that’s why our beer is called Beyond the Circuit. Because we want to rebel, and we want to bring Singapore to the front stage.”

The collaboration brought together Brewerkz, LeVeL33, Lion Brewery Co, Little Island Brewing Co, RedDot Brewhouse, Ren Min, SevenDaze Brewery, and The 1925 Brewing Co.

The recipe was truly collective. “Honestly, the whole recipe is a brainstorm, right? All eight breweries came up with some ideas, and we tried to put everything together. There was even a chaotic Google Sheet where everyone threw in inputs, and somehow it made sense in the chaos,” says Mitch.

The result? A jasmine rice lager designed for Singapore’s tropical climate. “It’s not a typical lager. It’s light, refreshing, and something you want to drink throughout the five days you’re celebrating the race,” adds Mitch.

The can design itself tells a story. Yeo Eng Kuang (EK) from the 1925 Brewing Co. shared, “The easy way out would’ve been to slap an F1 car with logos on it, but that wouldn’t do us justice. Instead, we amalgamated eight different brand colours into psychedelic patterns, almost like the lights you see when cars zoom around at night.”

The Singapore track even makes a subtle appearance in the artwork. “We wanted the design to feel fast, vibrant, and very much about Singapore.”

Beyond the Circuit went far beyond the beer to be about community. “I think the purpose of this year is for us to embrace being a rebel. In Singapore, it’s a very conforming society. But when we brew something like a Jasmine lager, people are actually more interested than drinking a commercial lager,” says Mitch.

“To put aside egos, styles, and principles, and come together with a common goal. That’s not easy. Some of us are IPA people, some are lager people, some want fruit. But we all agreed to make this beer. That’s history,” said LeVeL33’s brewmaster Gabriel Garcia.

Production is intentionally small. “There’s 90 litres of this beer in each of the breweries… it’s a limited volume, enough to keep the suspense,” said Mitch. Availability will stretch across taprooms, but only “for as long as it’s available.”

“We put a lot of heart and soul into this. What you’re tasting today isn’t just a beer. It’s a call against the big boys, and it’s history.” And with that, glasses were raised: “Beyond. Beyond the circuit. About the winner. Cheers, everybody.”

The beer officially launched on 23 September at Brewerkz One Fullerton, with broader availability beginning 26 September across all eight brewery taprooms and restaurants. Each pint and can will be available while stocks last.
