Hotels & Holidays: Accor and Sun Group Unveil Major Hospitality Expansion Across Vietnam

Vietnam’s hospitality scene is set for a significant boost as Accor and leading developer Sun Group deepen their long-standing partnership with plans to launch more than 5,300 hotel rooms, resorts and serviced residences over the next five years.

The ambitious expansion will introduce a mix of new luxury, lifestyle and premium accommodation across some of Vietnam’s most popular destinations, including Phu Quoc and Danang.

Among the highlights is the debut of several Accor brands in Vietnam, including Sofitel Serviced Residences, Swissôtel Living, TRIBE, and SO/ by Ennismore. The portfolio will also expand the footprint of established favourites such as MGallery, Grand Mercure and ibis Styles.

The latest collaboration builds on the successful relationship between Accor and Sun Group, with both companies aiming to create distinctive destinations that showcase Vietnam’s culture, natural beauty and growing appeal as a travel hotspot.

“Vietnam has emerged as one of Asia’s most dynamic destinations,” said Sébastien Bazin, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Accor. He noted that the expanded partnership reflects a shared vision to grow Vietnam’s tourism sector through internationally recognised brands and experiences that help travellers connect more deeply with each destination.

Dang Minh Truong, Chairman of Sun Group, said the agreement represents another milestone in the company’s mission to develop world-class destinations that celebrate Vietnam’s identity while supporting the country’s tourism industry and local economies.

The initial phase of the development will include:

  • Bana Hills Hotel Danang – MGallery Collection (250 rooms)
  • Ruby Beach Hotel – MGallery Collection (180 rooms)
  • SO/ Phu Quoc Ruby Beach (300 rooms)
  • Grand Mercure Phu Quoc Ruby Beach (250 rooms)
  • TRIBE Hon Thom Phu Quoc (321 rooms)
  • ibis Styles Hon Thom Phu Quoc (588 rooms)

The announcement comes as Vietnam continues to attract growing numbers of both domestic and international travellers, cementing its reputation as one of Asia’s fastest-rising tourism destinations.

Accor currently operates 45 hotels in Vietnam, making it the group’s third-largest market in Asia outside India and Greater China. The new portfolio is expected to further strengthen its presence across the country’s luxury, premium and lifestyle hospitality segments.
