Seven years after opening its first Singapore restaurant, SUSHIRO is bringing its conveyor-belt sushi experience deeper into the heartlands, and marking the occasion with a little Pokémon magic. Japan’s popular kaiten sushi chain will open its 25th Singapore outlet at Hougang Mall on 1 October 2026, giving diners in the North-East a new neighbourhood spot for sushi, sides and the familiar stream of plates making their way around the conveyor belt.
Located at 90 Hougang Avenue 10, the new outlet arrives at a particularly timely moment: the same day that Wave 2 of SUSHIRO’s islandwide Pokémon collaboration begins. Running until 22 October, the second wave introduces a fresh selection of Pokémon-themed menu items and limited-edition collectibles, with favourites including Pikachu, Eevee, Snorlax and more making an appearance.
For SUSHIRO, the Hougang opening represents another step in a Singapore expansion that began at Tiong Bahru Plaza in August 2019. What started with a single outlet has since grown into a network stretching across the island, from Orchard and Chinatown to Tampines, Punggol, Woodlands and beyond. And now, Hougang joins the list.

The timing of the opening means diners at Hougang Mall can dive straight into the second chapter of SUSHIRO’s Pokémon collaboration. Among the Wave 2 highlights is the Toro Platter 5 Ways, priced at $19.90++, which comes with a random Pokémon Card Case with Lanyard.
The Bluefin Tuna and Fresh Salmon Roll Platter, at $15.90++, comes with a random Pokémon keychain featuring Eevee, Pichu, Piplup or Mimikyu. For something smaller, the Tuna Ball with Flying Fish Roe costs $2.90++ and comes with a random Food Pick sticker featuring Charizard, Eevee, Snorlax or Mimikyu.
Dessert gets its own Pokémon treatment with the Mille Crepe Melba with Matcha Sauce, priced at $5.50++, which comes with a random Tatsugiri and Dondozo or The Starters sticker. The collaboration is available across all SUSHIRO Singapore outlets until 22 October, making the new Hougang location an especially convenient place to start collecting.

There is another reason to make the trip during opening fortnight. From 1 to 14 October, SUSHIRO Hougang Mall will offer a rotating selection of 1-for-1 sushi favourites, with different dishes taking the spotlight throughout the two weeks.
The promotion begins on 1 and 2 October with Bluefin Fatty Tuna, normally priced at $4.90++, followed by Big Cut Salmon Belly with Ikura on 3 and 4 October at $3.90++. From 5 to 7 October, it is Big Cut Grilled Eel at $3.90++, followed by Medium Fatty Tuna on 8 and 9 October, also at $3.90++.
The weekend of 10 and 11 October brings Big Red Shrimp at $2.30++, before the promotion wraps up with Big Cut Fresh Salmon from 12 to 14 October at $2.90++. Throughout the promotional period, diners can also add unlimited drinks and green tea for $1.50++.
Those heading down on opening day itself can look forward to an additional surprise. On 1 October, diners who spend a minimum of $50 in a single receipt will get the chance to take part in a Sure Win Lucky Dip. Prizes range from SUSHIRO merchandise and dining vouchers to other surprises, giving the restaurant’s first day an extra element of fun. As with the other opening promotions, the lucky dip is subject to terms and conditions and available while stocks last.

For those who have not visited SUSHIRO before, the appeal extends beyond the sushi plates circling the restaurant. The chain offers more than 100 varieties of sushi and side dishes, alongside hot dishes, noodles, desserts and seasonal specials. Its October seasonal menu, available from 7 October to 3 November, adds another round of limited-time dishes to explore.
Among the highlights are Mediterranean Bluefin Kamatoro, Flounder Engawa, Tokushima Ashiaka Shrimp, Sous Vide Tender Roast Beef and Aburi Wild Blackthroat Seaperch. There are also more adventurous options, including several preparations of fugu, such as Fugu Taste and Compare with Ponzu Jelly and Grated Radish and Fugu Shirako Wrap with Ponzu Jelly, alongside Bancha Braised Octopus, Big Whelk Taste and Compare and Tairagi Shellfish.
For diners looking beyond raw fish, the seasonal line-up includes Salmon Tatsuta Fry with Amadare Mayonnaise, Flying Fish Tempura, Heaps of Mushroom Ankake Chawanmushi and Shio Koji Albacore Tuna Karaage. There is plenty for a heartier finish, too, with Iberico Pork Curry Udon and Soft Shell Shrimp Bisque Dry Ramen, while dessert comes in the form of a Brulee Pumpkin Cheesecake.
The seasonal menu is also staggered throughout the month, with additional dishes such as Fatty Swordfish, Miyako Salmon Trout and a series of soy sauce koji preparations arriving from 21 October.

The Hougang opening is part of SUSHIRO’s broader evolution in Singapore, where the brand has increasingly moved beyond central shopping districts into neighbourhood locations. Its Singapore network now stretches from Tiong Bahru and Orchard to Bedok, Punggol, Tampines, Choa Chu Kang, Woodlands, Holland Village and Mandai, among others. The 25th outlet adds another heartland address to that map.
The Hougang Mall restaurant will open daily from 11am to 10pm, with reservations available through the SUSHIRO Singapore app. A limited number of seats are made available for reservations, so diners who see that slots are full can still try their luck with a walk-in.
For a brand that arrived in Singapore in 2019, reaching 25 outlets is a sizeable milestone, but the celebration at Hougang is less about looking back than giving diners another reason to come together over sushi. With Pokémon collectibles, opening-day surprises, two weeks of 1-for-1 favourites and a new seasonal menu on the horizon, SUSHIRO’s latest chapter begins with plenty already making its way around the belt.
