Johor Bahru is set to welcome a vibrant new stay with the arrival of ibis Styles Johor Bahru City Centre, scheduled to open in late 2026.
Developed through a partnership between global hospitality group Accor and Singapore-based Worldwide Hotels Group, the new hotel will introduce the colourful, design-driven ibis Styles experience to one of Malaysia’s fastest-growing cities.
Located within walking distance of Johor Bahru Sentral, the upcoming Johor Bahru–Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link station at Bukit Chagar, and popular shopping and cultural attractions, the hotel is designed for both weekend travellers and business visitors looking for a convenient city base.
The property will feature 243 guestrooms, an all-day dining restaurant, a lobby lounge, fitness centre, as well as meeting and event spaces.
Known for its playful interiors and creative approach to hospitality, ibis Styles stands out with its philosophy of “700 hotels, 700 designs”, meaning every property has its own unique personality while delivering the comfort and value the brand is known for.
“Johor Bahru is a key gateway city with growing demand from both leisure and business travellers,” said Garth Simmons, Chief Operating Officer, Asia at Accor. He added that the ibis Styles brand is well positioned to appeal to today’s experience-driven travellers who appreciate thoughtful design at an affordable price.
Carolyn Choo, Chief Executive Officer of Worldwide Hotels Group, said the new hotel reflects the group’s continued focus on strategically located properties in high-growth destinations. She noted that its proximity to the future RTS Link station will make it an attractive option for travellers commuting between Singapore and Johor Bahru.
The signing also marks another milestone in the long-standing partnership between Accor and Worldwide Hotels Group, bringing their collaboration to nine hotels across Asia.
Accor currently operates 28 hotels across Malaysia under seven brands, with another 10 properties in the pipeline, underscoring the group’s continued investment in the country’s growing hospitality and tourism sector.
