Food For Now: Bibik Violet Opens at Great World, with a New Peranakan Café for Handmade Kueh, Nostalgic Bakes and Durian Desserts

Bibik Violet has opened its second Singapore outlet at Great World, serving handmade Nyonya kueh, Peranakan comfort food, nostalgic bakes and exclusive durian desserts.

If you’ve been looking for another reason to linger over kopi and kueh, Bibik Violet has just opened its second Singapore home at Great World.

The beloved all-day Peranakan café, bakery and emporium officially welcomed diners on 14 July 2026, bringing its signature blend of comforting Peranakan cuisine, handmade Nyonya kueh and nostalgic local bakes to the River Valley neighbourhood. Located on Level 2 of Great World, the new 74-seat café is designed as a warm, welcoming space where guests can drop by for breakfast, afternoon tea, family dinners or simply a slice of cake with coffee.

Following the success of its flagship at Temasek Shophouse, Bibik Violet continues its mission of making heritage flavours part of everyday life. “Bibik Violet has always been about food that feels like coming home, comforting dishes you return to again and again,” says Tay Yiming, CEO of Violet Oon Group. “Great World feels like exactly the right place to continue that story, and to become part of people’s everyday routines.”

For Chef Violet Oon, the opening is especially meaningful. “Great World holds very special memories for me and my family,” she shares. “To now return with Bibik Violet feels like a homecoming.”

Walking into Bibik Violet feels less like entering a shopping mall café and more like stepping into a colourful Peranakan home.

The interiors feature rattan chairs, vintage recipe books, batik accents, hanging plants and heritage décor carefully chosen to recreate the warmth of a traditional Bibik’s kitchen. Near the entrance, a tempting counter displays freshly made Nyonya kueh, nostalgic cakes and pantry favourites including house-made kaya alongside Bibik’s signature kopi and teh blends.

It’s an inviting stop whether you’re grabbing breakfast, meeting friends over afternoon tea or picking up desserts for home.

To celebrate the Great World opening, Bibik Violet has launched a trio of limited-edition durian desserts available exclusively at the new outlet until 31 August 2026.

Durian Chendol

The classic Singapore dessert gets an indulgent upgrade with creamy durian served alongside shaved ice, pandan jelly, coconut milk and gula melaka.

Sago Gula Melaka with Durian

Silky sago pearls meet rich gula melaka before being topped with Mao Shan Wang durian pengat for an intensely creamy finish.

Pulut Tai Tai with Durian Kaya

Fragrant blue pea glutinous rice is paired with rich durian kaya and durian pengat, bringing together traditional Peranakan flavours with the richness of Singapore’s favourite fruit.

If durian isn’t your thing, Bibik Violet’s signature Chendol will remain a permanent fixture on the Great World menu.

One of Bibik Violet’s biggest draws remains its daily selection of handmade kueh, prepared in limited batches.

New additions include:

  • Black Sesame Ang Ku Kueh
  • Yam Ang Ku Kueh
  • Kueh Talam with coconut cream and sweet potato

The bakery has also expanded its line-up of nostalgic cakes with several new creations, including:

  • Marble Loaf Tea Cake
  • Pandan & Gula Melaka Marble Chiffon Cake
  • Pineapple Upside-Down Cake
  • Banana Loaf Cake
  • Rum Balls

These join customer favourites such as the Orange Sugee Cake, Pandan Chiffon Cake and Pulut Hitam Tart. For celebrations, Bibik Violet now offers colourful Nyonya kueh platters that are ideal for birthdays, baby showers, office parties and family gatherings.

Beyond desserts, Bibik Violet serves an extensive menu from breakfast through dinner. Morning visitors can start with Kaya Toast, Hae Bee Hiam Toast or Mee Siam alongside traditional Singapore-style kopi or teh.

For lunch and dinner, the menu features comforting favourites including:

  • Nyonya Laksa
  • Prawn Mee
  • Nasi Lemak
  • Chicken Macaroni

Sharing plates such as Satay, Kueh Pie Tee and Tau Hu Goreng are perfect for the table, while heartier Peranakan classics include Buah Keluak Soft Rib, Babi Pongteh, Ayam Goreng Berempah and Chap Chye. It’s the sort of menu that works equally well for a quick weekday lunch or a leisurely family meal.

To mark the launch, Bibik Violet is offering kopi or teh for just $1 every day from 3pm to 5pm until 31 August 2026, exclusively at the Great World outlet. Guests who sign up for the complimentary Bibik Club membership at Great World will also receive a free kopi or teh. Members can earn points on every visit, enjoy birthday treats and unlock exclusive rewards across both Bibik Violet locations.
