From sneaking snacks in class to dodging flying dusters, the free two-week event brings nostalgic schoolyard antics, fun challenges and prizes to Bishan.
Remember sneaking a bite of food during lessons, trying to dodge a flying duster or wishing you could spend the entire school day doing absolutely nothing? This October, Junction 8 is bringing these familiar schoolyard antics back with a playful twist.
Titled “Beat the Stress: The Ultimate Schoolyard Showdown”, the event invites students, working adults and families to take a break from their daily routines and revisit the mischief and fun of their school days.
Taking place from 15 to 17 October and 22 to 24 October 2026, from 3pm to 8pm daily, the event spans three activity zones across the mall. All activities are free to play, with no minimum spend required, although online registration is necessary.
Whether you need a breather from exam preparations, a break from work deadlines or simply an excuse to have some fun with friends, consider this your hall pass to switch off and embrace your inner school kid.

The schoolyard-inspired activities are spread across three zones at Junction 8, each recreating a familiar part of student life. At Zone A on Level 1, participants can try the Siammm Teacher Sneaky Eating challenge, inspired by the familiar art of sneaking food into class without getting caught. Alternatively, the Jiak Champion Eating Challenge puts their eating skills to the test, with prizes up for grabs for top performers.
Those who prefer a more laid-back activity can head to Zone B on Level 1 for the Nua One Corner Challenge. The task is simple: put away your devices, unplug from distractions and do absolutely nothing for 10 minutes. In a world of constant notifications and packed schedules, a little enforced downtime might be just what you need.
For something more active, Zone C on Level 3 hosts Just Whack!, featuring the Duster Throw and Slipper Flipper challenges. Two familiar school-day icons return, this time with participants aiming at targets rather than misbehaving students.

There is more than nostalgia at stake. Every participant who takes part in the challenges receives vouchers or goodies from participating brands, with exclusive “Beat the Stress” sticker packs available at selected activities. Competitive players can also vie for prizes worth up to $40 in combined eCapitaVouchers and brand vouchers, depending on the challenge and their performance.
Those who complete all three zones in a single day can unlock the Ultimate Graduation Prize, with rewards including two Golden Village movie tickets, $15 KOI Cards, and other vouchers and gifts. Prizes can be redeemed at Zone C by the first 100 participants each week, while stocks last.
The rewards extend beyond the challenges, too. Shoppers who spend at Junction 8 from 15 to 24 October will stand a chance to be among the mall’s 10 Top Spenders, each of whom will receive a $200 eCapitaVoucher.

While you’re there, take the opportunity to explore Junction 8’s dining and retail offerings. Food options include Jiak Ba Food Heaven, Zhang Liang Mala Tang and Randy Indulgence Acai Bar. For those looking to shop, Decathlon offers sporting goods, while Samata caters to self-care needs and Sunshine Childhood Playland provides entertainment for younger visitors.
Conveniently located in Bishan and directly connected to Bishan MRT station and the Bishan Bus Interchange, Junction 8 makes it easy to turn an afternoon of schoolyard games into a full day out with friends or family.
So gather your schoolmates, work besties or family members and get ready for a dose of old-school fun, no homework required.
