As the world enjoys a long-awaited social renaissance, Super Loco Group is thrilled to welcome Mexico’s annual Día de los Muertos festivities with a joyous weekend celebration at Lucha Loco and Super Loco from 28 – 30 October, featuring a special dinner and drinks menu.
Traditionally celebrated on 2 November, Mexico’s Day of the Dead is a colourful celebration of life, fondly honouring the dearly departed with lively street parades across Mexico, where festival goers paint their faces with intricate sugar skull makeup and enjoy lavish feasts at home with family and friends.
At home, ofrendas (altars) are built and adorned with portraits, sugar skulls, personal belongings, water, salt, vibrant Mexican marigold flowers and lit candles to prepare for a joyful reunion with loved ones. In ode to this annual tradition, guests at Lucha Loco and Super Loco are invited to dine in the celebratory ambience of Día de los Muertos, created with uniquely decorated festive ofrendas built at each restaurant with Espolòn Tequila.
Guests can look forward to an evening of entertainment at Super Loco Customs House on 28 October with a special appearance by the elegantly dressed La Catrina, a festive Día de los Muertos icon mirroring the beauty of life and beyond. Dine on Día de los Muertos dinner specials like Tamales de Catrina with braised pork pibil wrapped in blue corn masa, Tacos de Los Muertos starring slow-braised octopus, squid ink sofrito and passion fruit-habanero salsa and Pastel de Vida, a special tres leches cake by renowned Singaporean pâtissier Janice Wong, featuring salted dulce chocolate topped with raspberry chilli crisp and lime gel, accompanied by passion fruit mango sorbet and milk crumble.
Join in the revelry at Lucha Loco the following evening on 29 October and transform into La Catrina herself for the night, with vibrant sugar skull make-up from Lucha Loco’s resident artist. Liquor up for some smooth piñata-smashing action with energising El Diablo Blanco chupito shots, powered by bright, clean Espolòn Tequila Blanco and artisanal Montelobos Espadín Joven Mezcal.
There’s no better way to honour a celebration of life than with a festive cocktail that revitalises the soul like the La Ofrenda: made with Montelobos Espadín Joven Mezcal, Campari, grapefruit juice, homemade pomegranate nectar and a playful kick from homemade firewater bitters. The festivities continue the next morning at a lively family-friendly riverside brunch in Super Loco Robertson Quay on 30 October, where little ones can get in on some piñata smashing fun, wearing colourful sugar skull face makeup just like La Catrina.
Super Loco Group’s special Día de los Muertos dinner menu is available daily from 5pm across Super Loco Robertson Quay, Super Loco Customs House and Lucha Loco, starting from 17 October 2022 to 4 November 2022. Reservations under each venue can be made here.
