Stout is usually associated with the familiar pint glass, dark, rich and deeply roasted. But what happens when the beer leaves the bar and enters the kitchen? That’s the idea behind Connor’s Stout Porter’s latest collaboration with Chye Seng Huat Hardware, which invites Singapore to “Experience Stout Differently” through a limited-time menu that puts the brew directly into the food and dessert.
Running from 27 August to 1 November 2026, the collaboration brings together two brands with a shared appreciation for craftsmanship, flavour and quality. Instead of treating stout as something simply paired alongside a meal, Connor’s becomes part of the recipes themselves, with its caramel, roasted coffee and chocolate notes used to add depth, balance richness and complement familiar flavours.

And if you think a café might be an unusual place to discover stout, that is precisely the point. “A café may not be the first place people expect to encounter stout, and that is exactly why this partnership is exciting for Connor’s. As a brand rooted in craftsmanship, quality and flavour, Connor’s fits naturally into spaces where there is an appreciation for how things are made and experienced. Partnering with Chye Seng Huat Hardware opens up a new avenue for us to reach different consumers and occasions, while showing that stout can have a place beyond the settings people traditionally associate with it,” said Olga Pulyaeva, General Manager of Carlsberg Singapore.
Developed by Christina Ee, Head Chef at Chye Seng Huat Hardware, the collaboration’s three limited-time creations each take a different approach to Connor’s distinctive flavour profile.
The Stout Stack (S$30++)

The humble burger gets a decidedly more grown-up makeover. Juicy wagyu beef is layered with slow-caramelised onions infused with Connor’s Stout Porter, a sunny-side-up egg, fresh tomato and crisp lettuce, then served with fries. The soft, buttery texture of the wagyu complements Connor’s smooth profile, while the stout-infused onions are designed to bring out the beer’s caramel malt character.
The Connor’s Grill (S$12++)

For something smoky and savoury, grilled chicken is paired with a creamy Connor’s stout-infused mayo. Here, the stout’s gentle roasted and earthy bitterness works as a counterpoint to the richness of the sauce, demonstrating how its roasted character can add balance without overwhelming the dish.
The Connor’s Affogato (S$9.20++)

Perhaps the most unexpected pairing of the three is saved for dessert. The classic affogato gets a boozy twist as fresh espresso, vanilla ice cream and Connor’s Stout Porter come together in one smooth creation. The pairing draws on the caramel and chocolate notes shared by the stout and Chye Seng Huat Hardware’s house blend, while vanilla ice cream helps tie the flavours together.

All this is a playful reminder that stout does not necessarily have to mean something heavy or intensely savoury. “What interested us about working with Connor’s was the versatility within its flavour profile. We did not want the stout to overpower the food or feel like an addition for the sake of it. Instead, we looked at where its caramel, roasted and slightly bitter characteristics could naturally enhance or balance familiar flavours. The result is a menu that remains approachable, while allowing Connor’s to come through differently in each creation,” said Christina.
The collaboration also makes it easy to sample Connor’s the traditional way. From Monday to Friday, from 6pm onwards, every main purchased at Chye Seng Huat Hardware comes with a complimentary 250ml half pint of Connor’s. For those ready to commit to the full pint, Connor’s is available at S$10++ during daily happy hour from 6pm to 9pm, down from its usual price of S$15++.

The experience extends beyond the menu, with a series of activities designed to give the collaboration a playful, almost nostalgic feel. Purchase two full pints of Connor’s in a single receipt and you can take a spin at the Connor’s gachapon, with every spin guaranteed to win exclusive merchandise. There is also a Strike a Pose photo machine where visitors can take and print a complimentary photo strip, complete with stickers to personalise the keepsake.
And for those who enjoy a little scavenger-hunt energy, Find the Notes challenges guests to complete a word search, snap a photo and tag @connorssingapore and @cshhcoffee on Instagram for a chance to win a carton of Connor’s, with one winner selected each week. A selection of Connor’s merchandise, including T-shirts, tote bags, mugs and collectible pins, will also be available for purchase while stocks last.

What the collaboration hopes to push is really a simple proposition: stout can be more versatile than its traditional image suggests. Connor’s Stout Porter is inspired by the balanced taste of British stout porter popularised in the early 1700s and is brewed with four premium ingredients, brown malt, caramel malt, lager malt and roasted barley. The result is a balance of richness and bitterness, topped with a creamy foam head and distinctive coffee and caramel notes.
Those characteristics are exactly what Chye Seng Huat Hardware’s kitchen is exploring, choosing not to disguise the stout, but finding places where its flavour can naturally make something else taste better. For a café known for its craft and coffee culture, it is an especially fitting setting to explore how a beer can behave like an ingredient. All this and it’s only the beginning, with Connor’s set to team up with another Singapore café in the future, with further details to be announced. For now, enjoy the experience and see what a good stout can offer in both food and drink.
